Canadians took 90.6 million trips in the second quarter, including domestic trips, compared to more than 67.6 million domestic trips in the first quarter. This compares to 2.2% annual growth in the first quarter.

Among domestic visits in the second quarter, 58.6 million were same-day, up 12.4 percent, and 32.0 million were overnight, up 8.4 percent.

Canadians spent an average of $125 for a one-day visit to the United States in the second quarter.

Meanwhile, total non-resident travel to Canada, including U.S. and foreign visitors, was eight million from April to June, down 3.1 percent from last year.

Americans made 6.1 million trips to Canada in the second quarter, down 5.6 percent from last year, while visitors from abroad accounted for 1.9 million trips, up 5.8 percent.
