Outright Games is laying off 27 employees. Chicken Run: Egg Pull And Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed The publisher said the decision will allow it to adapt to changing market conditions.
“After careful consideration and considering a number of possible paths forward, we have made the difficult decision to begin a redundancy process which will affect 27 roles at Outright Games across our UK and Spanish teams. These decisions were not made lightly, and we are fully committed to supporting our colleagues throughout this transition,” a company spokesperson told Game Developer.
“These changes are part of ensuring Outright Games remains relevant to market conditions and future-proofed. We remain focused on delivering high-quality family entertainment.”
Outright primarily specializes in licensed games for the whole family. This year the company brought several projects to the market, including NBA Rebound, Barbie's Horse TrailsAnd Bratz Rhythm and Style.
The studio also develops some projects independently, for example: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutants Unleashed– which was produced by the Spanish subsidiary of Aheartfulofgames.
However, the publisher came under fire earlier this year when several Aheartfulofgames employees accused Outright management of mismanagement and negligence.
“It has become increasingly clear to teams within the group that the new management is prioritizing low-cost, quick-turnaround projects, a strategy that tends to result in lower product quality and worse working conditions,” the Spanish studio said.
Aheartfulofgames employees eventually claimed that their parent company had put them to the sword.
“It looks like they are determined to shut us down at any cost.” said one source in an interview with Game Developer in July.. “They tell us we're not competitive enough, but when we finished we were very competitive.
