Brendan Gallagher is having a difficult season. The veteran has just one goal in 24 games and doesn't look like he's about to be unbanned.
And, of course, it’s not because he’s relaxing: the veteran is as tense as ever, but…
Unfortunately, Gally There's not much left in the tank. While he has been injury-free this season, his impact on the ice has been very limited.
All of this led to an interesting conversation between Tony Marinaro and Eric Bélanger today on Sick Podcast… and according to both men, something has to change with Gallagher.
And in their opinion, it's up to the Habs to go to Gally and explain that he can't play every game anymore. This is discussed around the 42nd minute, for those interested.

As we saw against the Avalanche, the sequence of two games in two nights on the road (with jet lag) was especially difficult for Gallagher. And this is what led Marinaro and Bélanger to wonder whether, for example, a club should ensure that Gally no longer plays two games in 24 hours.
And we know Gallagher won't do it alone: if the Habs want this to happen, someone on the inside is going to have to talk to him.
Because yes, it really can help. Gally survive an 82-game season. If his workload is limited, he will be able to push harder when he is fit, making him more efficient.
And if the Habs want to try to squeeze some value out of their $6.5 million-per-year player until the end of next season, this could be the way to do it…especially since the injured will eventually return: There will be quite a few forwards in town when that happens.
The club has to play 13 games in 22 days. And for Gallagher, all of this will most likely be quite a colossal test.
Let's see if the club takes action.
