Samantha Fulnecki wrote a mediocre essay. She allegedly received an unsatisfactory grade – zero out of 25.
Now, according to the University of Oklahoma, Fulnecki has filed a religious discrimination lawsuit against her professor.
But Fulneka's complaint is not frivolous. Her short essay published Turning point The University of Oklahoma Chapter (TPUSA OU) argues that “gender roles” are rooted in God's plan for humanity.
In a psychology course at the University of Oklahoma, Samantha Fulnecki was asked to write a 650-word essay in response to an article about how people are perceived based on social expectations about gender.

“A society that promotes the lie that there are multiple genders and that everyone should be whoever they want to be is demonic and seriously harms America’s youth.”
Fulnecki writes with imperfect syntax. Like, I think, many of her classmates. But Fulnecki writes, openly challenging Mel Kurt, her transgender professor. (RELATED: University Suspends Intransitional Illness Course for Minors Minutes After Complaint by Trans Activists)
TPUSA OA posted screenshots of Kurt's supposed response to the essay. Kurt lists She/They pronouns. Kurt looks like a man.
“Please note that I am not deducting points because you have certain beliefs,” Kurt’s response begins.
Right. I'm sure.
“… [I]instead I will deduct a point [sic] for publishing a reactionary article that does not answer the questions of this assignment, contradicts itself, actively uses personal ideology instead of empirical evidence in science classes, and is offensive at times.”
This last point directly contradicts Kurt's first statement. There is no universally offensive statement. Statements are made by people with certain beliefs. People with different beliefs get offended.
Here again are the guidelines and criteria for those who argue that Samantha received a poor grade because the paper was “bad” or did not cite empirical sources. Nowhere in the instructions does it say to use empirical sources, and the professor didn't say that she failed because… pic.twitter.com/cK2kowrXp7

Based on the assignment instructions, Fulnecky deserves at least 10 points for his answer. According to TPUSA OU, the assignments were scored on a 25-point scale based on three questions.
- “Does the article have a clear connection to the given article? (10 points)”
- “Does the article provide a thoughtful reaction or response to the article rather than a summary? (10 points)”
- “Is the work written clearly? (5 points)”
The instructions list “possible approaches” to the article, including “discussing why you think the topic is important and worthy of study (or not)” and “applying the research or findings to your own experience.”
Fulnecky appears to have chosen the “or not” option.
There seems to be no need to cite “empirical evidence,” but Kurt criticizes Fulnecki on these grounds. Fulnecki clearly responds thoughtfully to the topic of gender and sex, without explicitly using ChatGPT. I sincerely doubt that the “pro-trans” articles, written in the same mediocre prose, received zero points.
Kurt criticized Fulnecky for saying that “using your personal beliefs to challenge the conclusions of not only this article, but the conclusions of countless articles in psychology, biology, sociology, etc., is not best practice.”
Kurt adds: “[E]The largest psychological, medical, pediatric and psychiatric association in the United States recognizes that biologically and psychologically, sex and gender are neither binary nor fixed.”
In other words: “You MUST agree with me because Science™ says so!
Not long ago homosexuality was included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders published by the American Psychiatric Association. Institutional faith is fickle. But currently convenient for Kurt's argument. (RELATED: College Students Identify as Trans and Non-Binary Craters in Just Two Years)
Another teacher, identified in the screenshot as Megan Waldron (“She/Her/Hers”), allegedly commented on Fulneca's essay: “I agree with Mel about the grade you received. This work should not be considered the end of the assignment… It's okay to disagree with others, but there is a respectful way to do it.”

– University of Oklahoma. November 30, 2025
The University of Oklahoma says Kurt “has been placed on administrative leave” effective Nov. 30 as the university reviews Fulnecki's discrimination complaint. “To ensure fairness of the process, the course will be taught by a full-time professor for the remainder of the semester.”
Fulneka has no future as a writer. But she followed the instructions.
We must demand better work from All master's students. If Fulnecki deserves to fail, so do many of her classmates. If the University of Oklahoma isn't willing to raise its standards (which they probably aren't), then Fulnecky deserves a C.
