What can't she do? Julia Roberts took on the role Luca Guadagninotranslator in Gotham Awards 2025 for their ghostly tribute After the hunt. “I’ll be his interpreter tonight,” Roberts said as they walked to the podium. “Good evening and thank you, Gotham Awards,” Guadagnino began in English. The Oscar winner then translated the director's greetings into Italian, which pleased Guadagnino, who chuckled after the punchline and needed a break to laugh before continuing with his speech. “I can’t keep going with you, I can’t,” Roberts laughed as they couldn’t continue this fight any longer, probably because their stomachs were hurting from joy. Luckily, laughter is a universal language, hee hee.
However, it's good that they stopped all the jokes. Roberts then revealed that she grossly misjudged how much water she drank during the night. “I didn't realize how long this was going to go on and I didn't regulate my water intake,” she shared before thanking host Paul Rudd. “Paul, thank you for those kind words. To everyone out here living their creative dreams, thank you for doing this in a world that seems to be falling apart. It's the tape and glue that holds it together. One of my biggest dreams was to work with Luca Guadagnino, and now that I've done it once, I just want to keep doing it.”
