Core Keeper Is Digging Its Way to Switch 2 in January 2026

Start digging into Core Keeper

Pugstorm and Fireshine Games have announced Core Keeper – Nintendo Switch 2 Edition, an enhanced version of the underground sandbox adventure, coming to Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2026. Anyone who already owns the game on the original Switch gets this edition as a free upgrade. The new version uses more powerful hardware, delivering sharper images, more consistent lighting, richer shadows, smoother water detail, and improved particle effects, all while aiming for a stable 60 frames per second.

This release introduces eight-player co-op, doubling the previous limit. Players on the original Switch can still join these larger sessions while the host is using the Switch 2. This will allow the game world to feel a little more alive as friends tunnel beneath the surface together.

The Switch 2 version will release on the same day as the Void & Voltage update. This update is free and will be available on every platform. It opens up a new biome called Breaker's Reach, a space designed for danger and discovery, filled with new enemies and a towering boss robot, SUGAR. The update deepens the pacing of the game with explosive gear, high-energy tools, and a number of automation-focused additions.

Players can use new weapons such as the flamethrower and minigun. And then let's start creating an advanced automation table. This opens up tools designed to improve the efficiency of underground operations. Farms can become busier with machines such as the robotic farm arm and seed extractor. And pickers, grinders, conveyors and other mechanical assistants give players the ability to create complex automated networks.

Core Guardian is currently available on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, Xbox and PC, with the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition launching on January 28, 2026.
