Welcome to Derry episode 6 just gave us an excellent Pennywise lore dump

In this week's episode, sandwiched between two rather tender moments involving young love for our teenage cast, is a huge story development. Ono: Welcome to Derrywhich touches on the origins recently revealed Ingerd Kersh (Madeleine Stowe) and Pennywise (Bill Skarsgard), who is fully present in this episode.

[Ed note: The rest of this article contains full spoilers for the sixth episode of It: Welcome to Derry.]

After what happened in the sewers during episode four, Will (Blake Cameron James) and Ronnie (Amanda Christine) are growing closer this week. However, unlike the other children, Ronnie has no intention of returning, especially when she is reunited with her father Hank (Steven Ryder), who is hiding out in the Black Spot. Charlotte (Taylor Paige)) and Ingrid hid him there until he could sneak out of Derry.

Later in the episode, Rich (Arian S. Cartaya) and Marge (Matilda Lawler), who are also growing close, join Ronnie and Rich at the Black Spot and for a moment, it looks like everything will be fine. Everything comes to an end when it becomes known that Hank is hidden there, and a mob of armed racists appears in the predominantly black bar, bent on taking Hank by force.

However, even the shock of this moment pales in comparison to what happened next. Lilly (Clara Stack) discovers a startling secret about her adult friend Ingrid, who has a major influence on her life. This knowledge.

While looking through an old scrapbook, Lilly realizes that Ingrid was once a young clown in the circus and that her father, without makeup, bears a striking resemblance to Pennywise. If the photo looks familiar, it's because it's the same photo Beverly sees in old Mrs. Kersh's house. It: Chapter 2. Then, of course, Lilly sees a photo of a man wearing makeup. At this moment Ingrid reveals what it was her kept an eye on children dressed as a clown as she tried to see her father one more time.

Pennywise the Dancing Clown is a character played by her father. Ingrid says he was “taken” from her and that she was “drawn” to stay in Derry as a nurse in a hospice. It was there that she used a young girl to lure Pennywise out after overhearing her story about “clowns in the chimneys.”

Ingrid brings the child to Pennywise and reveals that she is His daughter. Once he realizes this, he instantly kills the child and returns to human form from the photo being hugged by Ingrid. She admits that she tried to free him and will do anything to see him again, even using children like Lilly to lure him out.

Now that we know Mrs. Kersh is related to Pennywise, this could explain her nightmare form in It: Chapter 2. Perhaps she will eventually succumb to Pennywise, becoming one of his many forms.

Hopefully the next episode will provide even more information about Ingrid to help us figure this all out. However, there is a possibility that history is about to take a turn in the direction Hanlons and Dick Hallorannconsidering what is about to happen in The Black Spot.
