LOS ANGELES — The Super Bowl pre-game show will open with three standout performers from Northern California: Charlie Puth will take the stage to sing the national anthem, Brandi Carlile will take on “America the Beautiful” and Coco Jones I will sing “Lift every voice and sing.”
Performances will take place on February 8th at Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California, prior to the NFL Championship game and halftime show featuring Puerto Rican superstar Bad Bunny the league announced Sunday.
“These artists bring a special voice to this moment, helping to set the tone for a day that will captivate fans around the world,” said John Barker, senior vice president of global event production for the NFL.
Pregame performances will air on NBC, Telemundo and Peacock.
The national anthem and song “Lift Every Voice and Sing” will be performed by deaf artist Fred Beam in American Sign Language. Julian Ortiz will sign “America the Beautiful.”
For the first time in its history, the halftime show will feature a multilingual sign routine using Puerto Rican Sign Language led by interpreter Selimar Rivera Cosme. All signed pregame and halftime performances will be presented in collaboration with LOVE SIGN's Alexis Cachar and Deaf Equality's Howard Rosenblum.
Puth is a four-time Grammy-nominated singer known for his songs “Attention,” “We Don't Talk Anymore” and his 2015 breakout hit. “See You Again” with Wiz Khalifa, from “Fast and Furious 7” soundtrack to the film. His appearance will precede the release of his fourth studio album, Whatever's Clever! maturity date is March 6th.
Carlile won 11 Grammy Awards and received praise for her eighth studio album. “Return to yourself” which was released in October. She has been nominated for two Grammy Awards with Elton John for their album “Who believes in angels?” also released their song “Never Too Late” from his documentary in April. “Elton John: It's Never Too Late.”
Jones is R&B Star Wins Grammy for Best R&Performance category B for her song. “ICU” in 2024 and released her debut album “Why not more?” which is nominated for best R&Album B at next year's ceremony. She also plays Hilary Banks in the television series Peacock. “Bel Air” is entering its final season.
