An Australian high school teacher with an eight-week-old baby has reportedly pleaded guilty to repeatedly sexually assaulting a teenage boy.

Carly Rae, 37 years old, pleaded guilty to four charges on Thursday. in the Newcastle District Court in New South Wales, according to the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, after her lawyer requested that the case be dealt with “as a priority” due to her status as a new mother.

Rae initially pleaded not guilty in May to charges of having sexual intercourse with a 15-year-old boy in October 2024, possessing child abuse material, preparing a child for unlawful sexual activity and committing acts with intent to pervert the course of justice.
She was released on bail in June after telling the court she was pregnant, ABC reported. This comes after her previous bail application was rejected.
The court was presented with messages on social networks
The court heard the incidents took place in the suburbs of Newcastle, about 160 kilometers north of Sydney.

Court records show Rae sent messages to the boy on the social media sites Snapchat and Instagram, ABC reported, with an agreed upon statement of facts highlighting some of their conversations.
One of Rae's messages via ABC said: “Hey, sorry I removed you from Snap. It seemed too tempting for me at this point.”
When the teen asked a few messages later if they should “delete each other now,” Rae responded, “It’s my fault. I take full responsibility. Do what you want/need.”

The teacher asked for a “last date”
Ray also suggested a final meeting in another message, ABC reported.
“Maybe we could have one last date before we go back to school,” she said, according to the agreed statement of facts, via ABC. “I'll bring my toy.”

A police statement submitted to the court said the boy's cousin witnessed their conversation on Instagram and told his parents, who then contacted police, ABC reported.
Court records show Ray said she didn't know the boy's age when police arrested her and told officers, “I thought he was an adult … and dropping out of school.”
Rae, who was due to stand trial in August 2026, will face a sentencing hearing on March 25, at which Judge Roy Ellis will order a sentencing assessment report to be prepared by then, the ABC reported.
Ray is still out on bail pending a hearing.
