San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Jauan Jennings found himself in hot water for the second week in a row for his in-game actions.
After he hit Carolina Panthers cornerback Tre'von Moehrig in Week 12, who had previously hit Jennings with a low blow, several Cleveland Browns defenders spoke out against Jennings following the 49ers' 26-8 win on Sunday.
“I totally understand why they hit you in the balls. I'm surprised no one has punched him in the jaw yet.”
During an injury timeout midway through the game, Jennings had to be separated from the Browns defense after words were exchanged.
After Jennings' confrontation with Moehrig, the Panthers insisted that Jennings was “talking crazy,” which ended in a 20–9 San Francisco victory.
Moehrig was ultimately suspended for Carolina's Week 13 game against the Los Angeles Rams and fined for his hit. Jennings received a lesser penalty for his actions after the game.
Jennings threw a touchdown and caught four passes for 39 yards against the Browns, building on his strong season.
Browns star lineman Myles Garrett also commented on his behavior after the game.
“I can’t speak to how he was raised, but if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything to anyone,” he said. “So he said a lot of things that were demeaning and disparaging to some of our players. And I was just trying to separate everyone. And I tried to come over and ask what the problem was and then he started attacking me, and, I mean, that's just how some guys roll.”
