Microsoft releases Xbox Game Publishing Guide

The publishing guide provides access to the “clear and authoritative guidance” needed when planning milestones, Microsoft says. The company said these pointers will help developers assess scope and mitigate risk in their launch plans.

The company noted that the guide was recently updated to better assist developers with the ID@Xbox registration process and creating their first game in the Microsoft Partner Center. It also includes an updated wishlist, guidance for pre-ordering and setting up the release, and new information about Xbox certification and testing services.

“This is not a one-time change. “We will continue to improve and expand our documentation to ensure every developer has the information they need to bring their game to Xbox,” the blog post said. “As we update requirements, streamline workflows, and add new features, the public guidance will evolve with you.”

Microsoft solicits feedback from developers and publishers who use its documentation to continue improving its recommendations and tools. The company said the release of the Game Publishing Guidelines is another step toward a “more open and collaborative Xbox ecosystem.”
