Best Black Friday 2025 carrier phone and plan deals in Canada

As Black Friday 2025 approaches, we're tracking down the best deals on phones and plans from Canadian carriers.

So far, early offerings have not been impressive (perhaps due to decreased competition, according to telecommunications company executives), but we hope operators have saved the best deals just in time for Black Friday. Below we've rounded up the best deals currently available and will update this post throughout the day with new deals as they become available.

Wireless plans

If you're looking for a great deal on wireless service, Freedom Mobile is your best bet. At the time of writing, the operator's plans for Black Friday have not changed, but its offers are still significantly ahead of the competition. Freedom $39/60GB 5G Plan for Canada/US/Mexico Update: now plan $39/70 GB 5G CAN/US/MEX has such great value that it is difficult to beat. And if you need more data, Freedom offers a $4/month discount on other plans for customers who bring their own phone (BYOP)—meaning you can get $45/100GB or 55/150GB options, as well as 5G and Canada/US/Mexico roaming.

For those who live in an area where Freedom Mobile is not an option, Public Mobile is your next best choice. Owned by Telus, it offers service on the Telus network, which should mean decent service wherever you get service from Telus or Koodo. (For what it's worth, I've been using Public Mobile since the beginning of the year with no problems in Ontario, but I spend most of my time in the GTA.)

Notable government plans include $40/60GB 5G Canada/US/Mexico and $50/100GB 5G Canada/US/Mexico. There are cheaper options, but their value is not as good. Partner brand owned by Telus Koodo has also launched a 5G plan for Canada, US, and Mexico priced at 40GB/60GB.so this is also worth considering.

Those looking to purchase a plan under $30 should consider the prepaid option. Chatr, Lucky Mobile and Koodo have 4G plans costing 29/25GB. — quite decent for less than $30 a month.

I've listed a couple more noteworthy wireless deals below, but I'd only recommend them if none of the above options work for you:

Smartphones

Looking for a new smartphone? Honestly, your best bet for a good deal is to buy outright and get a cheap plan (like one of the ones highlighted above). I have already written before about how to calculate if a deal with a carrier is really a dealbut in short, you need to find out if the cost of financing the phone and the corresponding plan is cheaper than buying the phone outright and getting the plan. In many cases the latter is usually a better deal, especially during Black Friday, when several phones are on sale.
