Last season, the Bears' loss in Detroit on Thanksgiving Day led to the firing of coach Matt Eberflus and marked their sixth straight game of a 10-game losing streak. A year later, the Bears crushed Philadelphia's defensive line and won with relative ease in the home of the Super Bowl champions.
The Eagles (8-4) appeared to wrap up the NFC East two weeks ago, but have suffered back-to-back losses that have left them looking little like a Super Bowl contender. Perhaps still feeling the pain of turning a 21-0 lead Sunday in Dallas into a 24-21 loss, the Eagles' offense showed no signs of breaking out. Frustrated Philadelphia fans booed throughout the game and called on the team to fire offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo.
The Eagles' season has taken such a turn that even the beloved push-push has doomed them this time around.
With the Eagles trailing 10-9 late in the third quarter, Jalen Hurts couldn't get his offense deep in Chicago territory and the Bears recovered.
The Bears, who have a knack for winning one-point games, turned the turnover into the drive of the day. Monangai had a 31-yard run on the first play, and Caleb Williams – who was 17 of 36 for 154 yards and a touchdown – completed a seven-yard pass to Colston Loveland on fourth down to extend the drive.
Monangai ran for a four-yard touchdown to make it 17-9 early in the fourth, and Williams added an insurance score with a 28-yard pass to Cole Kmet for a 24-9 lead.
Fans chanting “Fire, Kevin!” began flocking to the exits – and the Eagles will face even more questions about the dismal state of their offense.
The bears don't care. Despite having three linebackers out with injuries, Chicago eliminated the Eagles from the jump.
Philadelphia's Jalen Hurts threw for 230 yards and a pair of touchdowns to disgruntled receiver AJ Brown, who had 10 catches for 132 yards. Saquon Barkley couldn't break free against one of the worst defenses in history. NFL and finished with 56 yards rushing.
The Eagles ran just 17 plays and had two first downs (83 yards and 26 rushing) in the first half. The Bears gained 142 yards in the half.
Swift, who became the first running back to top 100 rushing yards against the Eagles this season, scored on a 3-yard run for his former team to make it 7-0. The Bears were leading 10-3 when Hurts hit Brown in the third quarter for a 33-yard touchdown that made the score 10-9.
Jake Elliott missed the extra point, adding to the list of terrible plays that have ruined the Super Bowl champions.
Hurts and Brown connected on the end of a four-yard touchdown run late in the fourth, but the Eagles missed the two-point conversion attempt and the game ended with two scores.
