Canadian freestyle skiers Naomi Urness and Dylan Deschamps won silver medals at the season-opening Big Air World Championships on Saturday in Secret Garden, China.

For Urness, 21, from Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, it was the first world championship medal of her career. She achieved this feat with a score of 165.75 across two runs.

Naomi Urness of Mont-Tremblant, Quebec, finishes second in the women's high air World Cup competition at the Secret Garden Resort in Chongli, China, with a total score of 165.75.

Great Britain's Kirsty Muir won gold in the women's event with a total score of 174.50 points, including a first-run best of 91.75, while China's Liu Mengting (165.25) completed the podium in bronze position.

On the men's side, 22-year-old Deschamps from Quebec scored a total of 178.50 points to take silver. American Troy Podmilsak won the event with a score of 185.50, while New Zealand's Luca Harrington (176.00) took bronze.

Quebec's Dylan Deschamps finishes second in the men's Big Air World Cup competition at the Secret Garden Resort in Chongli, China, with a total score of 178.50.

The next big air freestyle competition will take place next weekend in Beijing.
