Yes, Team Cherry is working on more Hollow Knight: Silksong, but is remaining coy on the details

The Cherry team has confirmed that they are still working on new content for Hollow Knight: Silk Songbut I won’t say when it will come out.

The long-awaited adventure was finally released in September to great fanfare. And it looks like the developers aren't done with it yet.

“We didn’t plan for seven years of Silksong,” said Team Cherry co-founder Ari Gibson. Bloomberg. “It's not that we expected it to take too long, but we still have the same development philosophy, which can sometimes extend our timeline.”

Silksong, as you know, began life as DLC for the original. Hollow Knight game before becoming a full standalone game.

It's unclear what exactly the studio is working on, or whether it has the potential to expand in size.

Bloomberg suggested that DLC dedicated to Steel Assassin Sharpe is in development. This character was teased in studio blog post many years agobut was not included in the final game.

“Just biding my time,” Gibson said of the character. “Probably the best way to say it is to wait until it arrives. One of these enemies, a small retinue of Sharpe and their comrades, they hid for a while because there was so much going on in the game. And all these parts need polishing, and polishing takes time. We are delighted to reintroduce Sharp. We just need to get to them.”

Gibson added: “We will definitely honor all of our obligations. Firstly, because they will be very interesting to perform. But even beyond those goals, we had our own ideas for additional things to add to the world. We're trying to juggle when it could potentially be.”

Bloomberg also asked the Cherry team if they wanted to shorten the time of the next game.

“At the beginning of Silksong and at the beginning of Hollow Knight, we had no idea that it would take as long as it did for both games,” said co-founder William Pellen. “We started working on the basic idea and let it evolve as much as we wanted. We could stop its development if we wanted. I think we'll move on to the next game, again with that core idea, and start exploring it and start figuring out what the boundaries will ultimately be.”

Gibson added: “We're clearly not concerned if it takes a long period of time.”

For now, the couple is “definitely happy with where [Silksong] sits right now and we're not planning anything dramatic at the moment,” Gibson said after numerous edits and balance updates.

He continued: “We are also quite pleased with its technical condition, noting that, of course, we will continue to make small corrections. And we look at what else we can do, what else we can bring to this experience and how this world can expand. I don't know how much we can really talk about this. We're being a little modest again. But it’s also because this material is constantly changing.”

The pair are also considering different sized upgrades, similar to the smaller Lifeblood or the larger Godmaster and Grimm Troupe from Hollow Knight.

Said Pellen: “We were talking about the next project in general. We don't think about size. We just started doing new things and working on pieces. We're still in this world, thinking about what we can present to people.”

The information will come “soon” but the couple will not be tied to a time frame and said they will have an increased frequency of communication as there is more to discuss.

Gibson suggested, “Yeah, we're still working on the game, we're doing what excites us.”

This will certainly be interesting news for Silksong fans as well. “Beautiful and charmingly mean, this is a game filled with revelation and genuine personality,” reads our five-star rating. Hollow Knight: Silksong review.

In the same interview, the couple also discussed Silksong's impressive challenge and the use of mods to change the difficulty..
