British singer and songwriter Jessie J.first album in eight years, Don't tease me while having a good timewas released today, and it looks like the artist isn't shying away from sharing the inspiration for her new album, which comes after her split from Republic Records after 17 years. On track 11 of the 16-song album, she has some words for her chosen ex-boyfriend.
At a listening party in London, before playing the track, the artist reportedly shared, “I wrote the next song in 2020 with Ryan Tedder and you can tell who I was dating.” And she's right; with a simple Google search, anyone can find out which ex Jessie J is referring to. Channing Tatum.
On “Threw It Away,” Jessie J sings in the first verse, “I put my heart on the table / That's when it got uncomfortable / No more honey, Monday to Sunday / Oh, you got a new baby, yeah, okay,” possibly hinting at Tatum's relationship with Zoe Kravitz, which was announced to the public the following year. “Don’t you dare rewrite history / I’m the beauty, you’re the beast… Have a good time on these streets,” she later sings.
The couple's on-off relationship began in 2018 and continued until April 2020, when the couple officially announced their separation.
