Bears beat Eagles in Philly, boos rain down on Lincoln Financial

PHILADELPHIA — The only team to enter Week 13 with a better record in one-score games than Chicago Bears (6-1)? Chicago Black Friday Opponent Philadelphia Eagles (7-2), who are tied with the Broncos for the most wins by a single point in the NFL.

So naturally, this NFC showdown ended relatively close as the Bears beat the Eagles 24-15 to record their fifth straight win.

The Ben Jonson era is only 12 games old, but the win ranks as the most influential under his leadership and the franchise's biggest in years. Chicago remains firmly in first place in the NFC North and is one step closer to making the playoffs a reality.

Friday's win did a lot to change the conversation about whether the Bears will be as good as their record in 2025. They beat the defending Super Bowl champions on the road and legitimized their place in the NFC hierarchy.

Chicago Bears (9-3)

Turning point: Four plays after Caleb WilliamsIn the third quarter, the Bears defense found success, turning the Eagles over during Philadelphia's famous push. Cornerback Nachshon Wright snatched the ball from the defender Jalen HurtsYou see, this has only happened once since the Eagles began playing the game regularly in 2022. Kevin ByardAfter throwing an interception two drives earlier, the Bears' offense put together a 12-play, 92-yard touchdown drive.

Most amazing performance: The Bears had the ball for 21 minutes in the first half due to how dominant they were in running the ball. D'Andre Swift (who recorded his third 100-yard game this season) and Kyle Monangai (130 yards) were especially efficient between the tackles, where they had 114 of their 142 yards in the first half. By halftime, it was the most yards allowed by the Eagles defense between tackles since Week 17 last season. Friday marked the first time since Nov. 10, 1985 that the Bears had multiple 100-yard rushers in the same game, as Walter Payton (107 yards) and Matt Sui (102) led the Bears to a 24-3 victory over the Lions.

What to do with QB performance: Chicago rushed for 282 yards (second-most this season) and dominated the floor from the start, so when they broke away from that formula with a shaky two-minute drive and ended the first half on a series of incompletions from Williams, it seemed to spark the offense in the final four minutes of the first half and the first four minutes of the second. Williams threw eight passes wide in the first half, his career-best, and finished the day completing 17 of 36 passes for 154 yards, one touchdown and one interception. It was a tough night for Williams from a performance standpoint. His completion percentage (17–36, 47%) was the second-highest in a game of his career. — Courtney Cronin

Philadelphia Eagles (8-4)

It feels like the Eagles have reached their biggest moment of the season. A collapse against Dallas Cowboys This was followed by a discouraging home loss to the Bears, in which the offense was routinely sluggish for much of the game and their defense suddenly looked vulnerable.

The constant whistling at Lincoln Financial Field spoke to the frustration both inside and outside the building felt at a team that wasn't playing to its talents.

They have time to think and improve before the game at the stadium next Monday. Los Angeles Chargers. At 8-4, they are still the favorite to win the NFC East and have a fairly friendly closing schedule with two games against Washington commanders and match with Las Vegas Raiders there's still some left.

But things have been a little shaky for this team for most of the season. Now is the time for the defending champions to show that the '25 team has what it takes to make another run.

What to do with QB performance: Hurts threw just his second interception of the season and lost the QB in the third quarter. This is his first multi-play game since Week 10 of 2024. It was only Hurts' second push-pitch failure since the Eagles began using the play regularly in 2022. The other game was in Week 8 of 2023 against Washington.

Biggest hole in the game plan: The Eagles defense had a hard time dealing with miscues. Monangai and Swift regularly found ways to make cuts that resulted in increased profits.

Trend to watch: The Eagles were unable to recover from their losses. This performance bore similarities to their 38-20 loss to the team in Week 8. New York Giantswhere they looked hopeless for a short week after losing to Denver Broncos. This organization is used to winning, but they still need to be able to bounce back when they're on the other side of the standings. — Tim McManus
