- Haven – Escape Room Game invites you to go back to basics
- Just you, a room and lots of puzzles to find freedom.
- Enjoy a relaxing, if a little unnerving, experience in this explosively popular genre.
The quest genre is one of these are simpleBut endlessly changing genres. Escape from a spaceship, escape from a mysterious island, escape from a fantastic dungeon. But sometimes you have to come back to what matters most. Just you, a room and nothing but your mind to help you escape, as is the case with the recently released Haven.
Coming to us from developer IzumiArtisan, there's not much to say about Haven. And that's not necessarily a bad thing. It puts you in, well, a room. Pale walls, little furniture and no idea how you got there.
You'll have to explore every nook and cranny, find clues and slowly solve every puzzle that stands between you and freedom. Haven isn't exactly a scary sight, with its soothing background music and distinct lack of looming threat. But this only makes escape even more urgent.
A place to escape
I think it's fair to say that the escape room genre doesn't have to have countless variations. After all, there is a big difference between a real immersive experience, where props and atmosphere are a huge asset, and what you can do on a mobile phone or computer screen.
What I mean is that you can go ahead and ditch the escape aspect entirely. in favor of the catbut that may be too much for even the most cat-loving puzzle players.
With Haven, you have all the basic features you need. A simple, clear and realistic location, a hint system that will help you progress, mechanics that will make you feel immersed, and (best of all) complete freedom of play.
