Kuxiu’s solid-state power bank now has more capacity and faster wireless charging

Seven months later launches its first semi-solid-state battery Using a safer and more durable mixed solid-liquid electrolyte, Kuxiu introduces a new version with some welcome updates. S3 has twice the capacity S2 at 10,000 mAh – 5,000 mAh at 7.7 V (38.5 Wh) – this the company says is enough to nearly double the battery life of an iPhone, but this will vary depending on the model.

Kuxiu S3 also Qi2.2 compatible so it can charge compatible devices wirelessly at up to 25W. Its larger battery means it's over 100g heavier than the 145g S2, but Kuxiu has increased the number of magnets the N52 uses from 16 to 18 to reduce the risk of the power brick accidentally falling off the phone. There's now a built-in kickstand on the back, a small display showing remaining capacity and charging status, and a built-in cable for charging other devices via USB-C at up to 35W.

Like its predecessor, the S3 is more expensive than traditional wireless power banks that offer similar capacity, charging speeds and features, but the cost of the technology should come down over time as improvements and production increase. It's currently available for $149.98, but is temporarily reduced to $68.99. If this seems difficult, remember that while most power supplies' capacity will start to decline after 300 to 500 charge cycles, the S3's capacity should drop to about 80 percent after only 1,000 charge cycles. It will have a much longer lifespan and be less susceptible to problems such as fire and thermal runaway. if you accidentally drop it.
