Telus is once again running its “Buy One, Give One” campaign, offering to give away a free phone to Canadian youth in need for every phone purchased during Black Friday.
From November 28 to 30, Telus says for every new or certified pre-owned phone purchase, the company will provide a free phone and plan to a Canadian teen aging out of foster care. Telus will use its Mobility for Good programwhich already offers free or discounted phone and wireless services to people in need. Specifically, the carrier says it will distribute phones to “young people, people aging out of government care, refugees receiving government assistance, and Indigenous women at risk of or survivors of violence.”
Since the program launched in 2017, Telus says it has supported more than 69,000 people.
According to the fine print on Telus' website, customers will need to purchase an eligible device with postpaid activation and a two-year Telus Easy Payment financing plan to qualify for the Buy One, Give One campaign.
In addition, Telus says it will allocate a maximum of 5,000 phones for the promotion. IN By 2024, the company promised to donate up to 7,000 phonesand in 2023 promised 5500.
