For months, everyone believed that Kyle Schwarber and the Philadelphia Phillies would reach an agreement on the terms of a new contract.
The guy loves playing in Philadelphia and the people there love him. Plus, the Phillies aren't afraid to spend.
We know he's the No. 1 priority in Pennsylvania (obviously I'm talking about the Phillies…even if the Pirates have their nose in the matter) because Schwarber hits hard and is a good man leader.
But how well are the negotiations going?
According to Todd Zolecki, who covers the Phillies in MLB, Schwarber and the club are not close to an agreement right now. Nothing really seems inevitable.
The club's fans (and management) will have to be patient for now.

Of course, this is not entirely out of the ordinary. After all, only Josh Naylor (the Mariners) has signed a noteworthy contract so far this offseason. It's still early.
It's usually around winter training (beginning Dec. 8) that the baseball world gets a little busier.
But we're highlighting it anyway because he's THE star free agent who will most likely be back with his club in 2025. In some ways, it's reminiscent of Freddie Freeman's performance with the Braves four years ago.
But everyone remembers that everything ended badly for Freeman with his hometown club. And that's why a team like the Red Sox must be salivating when they see the Phillies and designated hitter are far from a deal. #Prospects
