“Never Been More Proud Of Seth Meyers” Amid Trump Attacks

David Letterman has none of Donald Trumpattacks on Seth Meyers amid calls for the president to fire Late night master.

Letterman defends Meyers in new episode The Barbara Gaines Show (Gaines is a former executive producer The Late Show with David Letterman). Trump was furious after Late night segment in which Meyers railed against the president, declaring, “If anyone dares to say anything less than glowering, Trump will lose his shit.”

Well, that's exactly what Trump did, writing on Truth Social: “NBC's Seth Meyers is suffering from an incurable case of Trump Derangement Syndrome (TDS). Last night he was seen in an uncontrollable rage, likely because his 'show' is a ratings disaster. Above all else, Meyers has no talent and NBC should fire him IMMEDIATELY!”

Letterman praised Meyers. “And I thought, This is absolutely amazing. How do you think this is going to go? I've never been more proud of Seth Meyers anyway,” he said. “This is actually our old show. Yes, we used to do this show and it does a magical job.”

Letterman then referenced Trump's response to a reporter's question last week in the Oval Office about the 2018 assassination Washington Post Journalist Jamal Khashoggi said during Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman's visit to the White House: “But remember, Seth, things happen. Exactly. Do you understand what I'm saying?”

Later in the episode, after calling Trump “our dictator” and a “miracle of idiocy,” Letterman said of the president: “This is about 18 times the worst behavior you'll ever see anywhere. Think of the worst thing you've ever seen people do. It's much worse.”
