The long-awaited spiritual successor to the Star Fox series, which Nintendo has seemingly abandoned for now, has been reintroduced with a fresh gameplay trailer.
Wild Blue was only introduced in March of this year.and it definitely seems like there's a lot of potential here. In fact, developer Chuhai Labs was founded by Giles Goddard, one of the original programmers of the original Star Fox for the Super Nintendo. It's unclear why the game needed to be reintroduced just eight months later, but Chuhai Labs and developer Humble Games have done just that, releasing a new trailer and adding the word “heaven” to the title.
Chuhai says Wild Blue Skies features “numerous” biomes, including “oceans, desert ranges, and dangerous caves,” and what you see in the video above is the “dangerous” Hurricane level, which certainly seems appropriate as the player character battles waves of enemies in the middle of a massive hurricane. Honestly, I'm actually more excited about this than I was after watching it. previous trailerswhich included shorter snippets of gameplay that weren't nearly as inspiring as this new footage.
There's still no release date for Wild Blue Skies, but without any rumors suggesting something official is happening in the world of Star Fox, it's hard to complain.
There's a good reason why the original Star Fox is included in our comprehensive guide to best SNES games of all times.
