You can socket different runes into your gear, as well as better runes. Forge those that are active all the time and not in specific scenarios. You want runes that will give you better DPS and progression or allow you to stay in dungeons longer. Here's mine Forge Rune Tier List and Guide.

The best runes in The Forge ranking

Runes drop from enemies, so you can farm them easily if you have a good weapon. Especially Zombie Brutes for the best runes in Forge. This rune tier list has specific ranking criteria according to which all runes S to B-level Both main runes and auxiliary runes can be effective. However, the runes in C and D levels are not powerful enough because they have suboptimal conditions for activation. Below I will explain the individual reasons for ranking all the runes, as well as their effects..

S-tier runes

drain edge
• The best defensive rune in the game, allowing you to stay longer in dungeons by farming essence.
• Pairs well with Golem, but also works great in almost any build.
Possible traits:
Life Steal I: Heals ?% of physical damage dealt on hit.
Fracture: ?% additional stun damage on hit.

Drops From:
Rude Zombie

Explosive Edge
• The best DPS rune in the game as it deals area damage, allowing you to pull in and farm multiple zombies at once. Possible traits:
Explosion I: Cause an explosion at the victim's location, dealing ?% weapon damage as AOE damage. ?% chance on hit.
Critical Chance I: Increases the chance of landing a critical hit by ?%.

Drops From:
Delver Zombie
Rude Zombie

Miner's Shard
• The best progression rune in the game for faster ore farming. Possible traits:

Swift Mining I: ?% faster mining.
Mining power I: ?% additional damage from min.

Drops From:
Delver Zombie

A-level runes

A-level runes Why A-level Rune effects

Burning Spark
• A good alternative to Blast Edge, but it is a single target damage source.
• Great for farming tough zombies, elite enemies and bosses.
• Deals the most damage per second of any elemental damage over time rune.
• Pairs very well with Demon
Possible traits:
Burn me: Deals ?% weapon damage as Fire per second for ? seconds. ?% chance on hit.
Fracture: ?% additional stun damage on hit.

Drops out of:
Elite Zombie

Cold dust
• An excellent debuff that reduces the damage done by enemies.
• This is an excellent alternative protection option.
• Amazing rune of support.
Possible traits:
Snow I: Applies ?% to attack speed and movement speed slow by ? seconds. ?% chance on hit.

Drops out of:
Elite Zombie
Rude Zombie

B-tier runes

B-tier runes Why S-level Rune effects

Poisonous crumb
• An alternative to Burning Spark that does less damage but can still be a nice DPS boost. Possible traits:
Poison I: Deals ?% weapon damage as poison per second for “x” seconds. ?% chance on hit.

Drops out of:
Zombie
Elite Zombie

Forst Speck
• It is similar to Chill Dust in that it can reduce the damage you take as the enemy is frozen and gives you a DPS window.
• It's a little harder to proc as it has a cooldown, so I placed it lower on the B-tier.
• Still good as a support rune.
Possible traits:
Ice I: Freezes enemies for ? seconds with a ?% chance of hitting. Has a cooldown time?.
Critical Damage: Increases the damage of critical hits by ?%.

Drops out of:
Elite Zombie

C-tier runes

C-tier runes Why C-level Rune effects

Mark of Fury
• On paper this rune is great, but then you realize that it's optimal to dodge/parry attacks and keep your health high.
• This means that this rune is not activated.
• Suitable for beginner players learning to dodge/parry.
• Stamina boost is decent, but nothing powerful.

• Note: It's really good for Minotaur builds that intentionally want to stay at low health to increase damage

Possible traits:
Berserk I: Increases physical damage and movement speed by ?% by ? seconds. Has it? reload seconds. Activates when health is below ?%.
Stamina I: Grants ?% more stamina.

Drops out of:
Elite Zombie
Rude Zombie

Ward's patch
• In this game, not only are you aiming to take as little damage as possible, but this rune even has a chance to proc.
• This means that even if you make a mistake and get hit, it is not guaranteed to work.
• Not the best rune to use.
Shield I: Reduce physical damage taken by ?%. Has a ?% chance to hit.
Phase I: Invulnerability during the dash has been increased by ?%.

Drops out of:
Zombie
Elite Zombie
Rude Zombie

Rotten Stitch
• Similar to Mark of Fury, where you won't see much benefit from this rune unless you're low on health.
• Since you're trying to avoid damage and keep your health high, this rune usually doesn't have much use.
•Also, as with Mark of Fury, this can be useful for a build that wants to keep health low, e.g. Minotaur Racial Builds
Toxic veins I: Deals ?% poison damage around character over ? seconds. Has it? reload seconds. Activates when health is below ?%
Stamina I: Grants ?% more stamina.

Drops out of:
Zombie

D-tier runes

D-tier runes Why D-level Rune effects

Briar Notch
• This rune only has real value if it constantly takes damage, which is unrealistic in this game since you want to avoid damage.
• This is not good even for builds that want to have low health since you won't be able to take damage in those builds.
• IMHO, the worst rune in the game
Thorn I: Reflect ?% of physical damage received. Maximum damage subject to limitations at ?% of the user's maximum health. ? reload seconds.

Drops out of:
Zombie
