MIAMI (AP) — Tyler Herro scored 24 points. in his debut season After recovering from ankle surgery, Kel'el Ware had 20 points and 18 rebounds as the Miami Heat beat the Dallas Mavericks 106-102 on Monday night.
Bam Adebayo scored 17 points for Miami, nearly 20 points below his season average, but improved to 8-1 at home.

P.J. Washington scored 27 points for Dallas, followed by 15 from Max Christie, 13 from Klay Thompson and 12 from Cooper Flagg and Brandon Williams.
Dallas trailed by 13 points before making the game interesting.
Flagg made a pair of free throws with 1:04 left to tie the game 102-102. The Mavs got a stop on their next possession, but Adebayo stole a pass and Herro scored with 41.2 seconds left to put Miami back on top.
Miami, playing its third game in four nights, was without leading scorer Norman Powell (groin), Andrew Wiggins (hip) and Nikola Jovic (hip).
Mavericks center Anthony Davis missed his 14th straight game with a left calf strain, although he was upgraded to questionable earlier Monday, indicating there is a slim chance he will play. Dallas won't play again until Friday against Davis' former team, the Los Angeles Lakers.

“I think he's continuing to get better. He's working to get back,” Mavericks coach Jason Kidd said. “We're expecting him in training this week. I think any time there's a calf strain you have to be careful. But he's worked really hard and the next step is training on Wednesday, so we'll see what happens.”
