Ex-Ravens kicker Justin Tucker gets Saints tryout after suspension

Former Baltimore Ravens offensive lineman Justin Tucker will attend a tryout with the New Orleans Saints on Tuesday, the team confirmed to The Times.

This is reportedly the six-time Pro Bowl player's first tryout since serving a 10-game suspension earlier this season for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy.

Tucker spent the first 13 years of his career with the Ravens. but was released in May after reports first emerged in January that several massage therapists had accused him of inappropriate sexual behavior. The 36-year-old player denies any inappropriate behavior.

After conducting its own investigation, the NFL announced Tucker's suspension in June, citing a violation of the league's personal conduct policy. He was eligible for reinstatement on November 11, but before then he was allowed to try out and sign with the team.

A Super Bowl champion after the 2012 season, Tucker is one of the most accurate kickers in NFL history, making 89% of his field goal attempts (fourth all-time). In 2021, he made a 66-yard field goal that stood as an NFL record until the Jacksonville game. Cam Little broke it with a 68-yarder earlier this season.

In 2022, Tucker agreed to a four-year contract extension that included $17.5 million guaranteed through the 2027 season. Last year, however, Tucker had his worst season in the NFL, making 73.3 percent of his field goal attempts, a career-low. The Ravens drafted offensive lineman Tyler Loop out of Arizona in April.

The Saints are auditioning kickers after third-year kicker Blake Grup missed two field goal attempts in Sunday's loss to the Atlanta Falcons, bringing his total misses this season to eight. Cade York, who previously played for the Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals and Washington Commanders, was also reportedly scheduled to try out in New Orleans.
