Cox Enterprises, an American global conglomerate with major subsidiaries in the telecommunications and automotive services industries, has confirmed that it is the latest in a long list of companies compromised by a hacker attack. zero day in Oracle E-Business Suite.
The company filed a new report with the Maine Attorney General's Office saying the system was breached in August, but didn't discover the intrusion until late September 2025, along with a data breach notification letter sent to affected individuals—exactly 9,479 people.
“Unfortunately, this issue has impacted many companies using Oracle systems, including Cox,” the statement said. “As soon as we became aware of this activity, we immediately began an investigation and applied an Oracle security patch as soon as it became available. We also engaged cybersecurity experts and data analysts to review our systems and data that we believe may have been copied and stolen. We also contacted law enforcement.”
Files appear on the dark web
The investigation, which concluded on October 31, 2025, determined that the hackers had stolen personal information, including full names, but other details about the nature of the files were removed from the data breach notification letter.
Cox didn't name the perpetrators, but we know from previous reports that ransomware A group known as Cl0p was behind the Oracle attacks.
The conglomerate is not the first company to suffer from Oracle. LogitechThe Washington Post, GlobalLogic, Envoy Air and Harvard University are just a few of the big names mentioned.
On October 27, Cl0p added Cox Enterprise to its data leak site and has already published the stolen information.
To reduce risk, Cox is offering up to 24 months of free credit monitoring and identity theft protection services through IDX to all affected individuals.
