NFL news: Giants’ Malik Nabers rips team amid loss to Lions

Malik Nabers, New York GiantsThe suspended star wide receiver lashed out at his team in a since-deleted social media post following their overtime loss to the Detroit Lions on Sunday.

Nabers seemed to take issue with the team's playmaking in the fourth quarter when the team decided to go for it in the fourth, trailing by three points. The Giants turned the ball over and the Lions drove down the field and tied the game on a 59-yard field goal by Jake Bates.

“Sometimes I feel like they are deliberately making us lose!” he wrote on X. “Because there's no way bro you're throwing the ball instead of running it to make them burn 2 timeouts?

Nabers deleted the post, but not before NFL media and fans took a screenshot.

In the drive in question, the Giants went 14 plays for 86 yards without scoring a single point. Jameis Winston's pass to Theo Johnson in the end zone was incomplete.

Detroit got the ball back and Jared Goff led the team with 53 yards on 13 plays. Bates kicked the game-tying field goal. The Giants had no answer and the game went into overtime.

The Lions went one play into overtime and scored a touchdown. Goff found Jameer Gibbs for a 69-yard return for the go-ahead score. New York was no match and the Lions were able to hold on for a 34-27 victory.

Nabers is out of action since he suffered a torn ACL in a game against the Los Angeles Chargers on September 28th.

The Giants are now 2-10 on the year and are officially out of playoff contention.
