DJI It is expected to release its first drone with a 360-degree camera in the near future, ready to directly compete with Insta360 Antigravity A1and a new leak gives us some insight into when the DJI model might arrive.
It is expected to be called DJI Avata 360. DroneXL noted that the aircraft has just received regulatory approval from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) in the US.
However, there is a possibility that a ban on DJI devices is looming in the United States, which could go into effect on Tuesday, December 23rd. This will happen unless the US government specifically approves DJI technology that has been permitted up to this point.
With that in mind, the DroneXL team expects DJI to try to put the 360-degree drone on sale before December 23—otherwise, it won't be available in the US at all. In other words, we could see the DJI Avatar 360 appear any day now.
Predicted characteristics
At this point, some important characteristics of the drone are known, both from FCC documents and other sources. It looks like we'll be getting a 38.67Wh (14.32V) battery, which is 26% higher than the previous model. DJI Open 2.
The camera system is expected to have two 1/1.1-inch CMOS sensors, which will allow 8K 360 degree video capture at 50 frames per second, with 4KStandard 120fps video and 38MP panoramic photos are also available.
Four front sensors and two side sensors are expected to avoid obstacles and allow the drone to follow moving objects. In terms of connectivity, OcuSync 4.0 technology will apparently offer a range of up to 20 kilometers (12.4 miles).
This should all become official sooner rather than later, even if there remains a lot of uncertainty about DJI in the US. We have wrote a full explanation about what a ban could potentially mean for new and existing DJI products.
