Man wanted by FBI for ties to Ryan Wedding arrested by RCMP

A Canadian man wanted by US authorities for his alleged links to former Canadian Olympian Ryan Wedding, accused by the FBI of running a drug smuggling ring, has been arrested.

According to a Friday evening post on social media. FBI Los Angeles Field OfficeRashid Pascua Hossain, 33, was captured by RCMP in Vancouver.

The FBI stated arrest warrant was issued Oct. 28 to Hossein, who faces cocaine and money laundering charges south of the border in connection with his alleged role in what officials call the “Wedding Crime Enterprise.”

Canadian courts will have to consider any requests to extradite Hossain before he faces charges in the United States.

The FBI said Bianca Canastillo-Madrid, 37, of Mexico City, and Tommy Demorisi, 35, of Montreal, who they believe is a fugitive in the Dominican Republic, are still wanted.

In the investigation, dubbed Operation Giant Slalom, Vedad is a drug trafficker on par with notorious drug lords such as Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman and Pablo Escobar.

The FBI on Wednesday increased the reward for Wedding's capture to $15 million and offered an additional reward for information leading to the arrest of the unknown killers who authorities say killed a potential witness last January in Medellin, Colombia.

Hossain's arrest comes shortly after another alleged Wedding associate, Gursewak Singh Bal, 31, of Mississauga, was arrested on Tuesday. He is accused of accepting payment in exchange for not posting information about the Wedding on his website. Dirty newsand instead shared a photograph of the witness so that he could be found and killed.

The FBI seized the site as part of an investigation into Wedding's alleged members and associates.

Wedding's alleged lawyer has also been arrested. Deepak Balwant ParadkarA 62-year-old Thornhill resident who US authorities say advised the fugitive to have witness killed.

Other individuals present in Casti in connection with the investigation: Atna Ona, 40, of Laval, Que., Allister Chapman, 33, of Calgary, Ahmad Nabil Zitoun, 35, Edwin Basora-Hernandez, 31, of Toronto Sorows, 31, of Toronto Sorows Carmen Elinet Valoy Flores, 47, Bogota, Colombia Yuliat Katherine Tejada, 36, of Orlando, Florida, a legal permanent resident from Colombia, and Wilson Riascos, 45, of Cali, Colombia.
