We're definitely not in Kansas anymore, Toto, because this post contains HEAVY spoilers. Evil: For good. You have been warned!
If you're someone with disposable income and a passion for musical theater, there's a good chance you've either just watched it or are about to watch it. Evil: For good this weekend.
If you've already seen it or if you're a big fan of the musical, you already know this. Evil: For good ends with Elphaba (Cynthia Erivo) and Fiero (Jonathan Bailey) escapes Oz completely after the former fakes her death (a fake meltdown, if you will).
The two characters travel to an unnamed desert land mentioned in Frank L. Baum's turn-of-the-20th-century book that started all this Oz mania. The Wonderful Wizard of Ozlike “Deadly Desert”. Sounds scary!
And as it turned out, Evil: For good Director Jon M. Chu and his team of Oz heads originally had darker intentions for this part of the film's ending – or at least that's what he revealed in a recent magazine interview Entertainment Weekly.
In the chat, John revealed that he and his team were considering ending the film with “versions of this desert that were much darker and scarier – like you're walking into your fears.” Why didn't they do it then?
Well, John decided that the sandy area itself “is not dead space, it is an opportunity. Nobody has explored this horizon because everyone is too scared.”
“Let's add some glitter to this sand!” he added regarding the film's definitive ending.
So here's the question: Do you agree with John or do you think that Evil: For good needed a little more darkness in its grand finale? Let us know in the comments!
