I'll admit, when I first heard about them, I thought AR glasses like the Xreal One were a joke. But I loved them as a gamer once I realized they could be connected to a Steam Deck or iPad to have my own huge personal display wherever I was. If you want to be completely immersed in games and movies (without wearing a bulky VR headset), there are some great AR glasses on sale this Black Friday at rock-bottom prices.
Xreal One glasses are loaded with features and cost $399.99. Amazon And Best buywhich is $180 off the original price. This model will look discreet on your face, except for the USB-C cable that you attach to its ear hook to connect the device. The One supports a high refresh rate of 120Hz at 1080p resolution, and its Micro OLED screens offer excellent contrast. Bose speakers are built into the temples of the glasses, which transmit sound directly to your ears.
One of my favorite features of the One, three degrees of freedom, allows you to virtually lock the screen in place so it doesn't always move with your head. If you're in a car, train or plane, this may be helpful if watching screens makes your motion sickness worse. On the downside, the One doesn't have a hardware myopia adjuster to take myopia into account. If your screens look blurry, you may need prescription lenses.
If myopia correction is important to you, I suggest checking out Luma Pro glasses from Viturewhich include customization. You can get them in regular size for $424.99 (regularly around $500 outside of sale) at Amazon And Best buyor large for $449, also at Amazon. They have a more gamer look, which some may not like, but they are similar to the Xreal One in both features and performance. They boast a slightly sharper 1200p resolution, Micro OLED screens, and up to 120Hz refresh rates. Harman set up the built-in speakers.
However, in 2025, we obviously won't be able to have one set of AR glasses that can do it all for under $500. The Viture model lacks the three degrees of freedom that Xreal One has. In other words, the image on the screen will move when you move your head. This will either make you completely happy or a deal breaker.
