As with any other game, development Arc Raiders the trip was not smooth. In fact, the entire PvE game shown years ago has been almost entirely replaced by the loot shooter we have now, but developers Embark Studios explain how bad ideas led to fun.
“We spent most of the first year just building tools,” founder and CEO Patrick Soderlund said in a new post. documentary about the developers about creating one of the biggest hits of 2025. “I also knew we couldn't do everything right. We were going to make a ton of mistakes along the way, and we needed to plan for those mistakes and kind of find the cushion to be able to make those mistakes.”
“Finding entertainment isn't always something that you can't just automatically say, 'We'll just do this and it'll be fun,'” explained executive producer Alexander Grondal. “What you know is: you're working, you put something in and it doesn't work the way you want it to. So, you need to start reworking it, repeating it, and maybe rethinking some of your original assumptions… That comes from playing the game and playing with what you've created.”
