Marjorie Taylor Greene Announces She Will Resign in January

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) announced she would resign in January and criticized both Republicans and Democrats, saying “nothing is getting better” for everyday Americans.

In the statement published In a post on X, Green noted that no matter which political party is in power, the debt is increasing, “corporate and global interests remain Washington's darlings,” and American jobs continue to be replaced, whether by illegal aliens or “legal labor on visas or simply sent overseas,” among other problems.

“Americans are being used by the political-industrial complex of both political parties, election cycle after election cycle, to choose the side that can convince Americans to hate the other side more,” Greene said. “And the results are always the same. No matter which way the political pendulum swings, Republican or Democrat, nothing gets better for the average American, man or woman.”

“Today, many of my children's generation feel hopeless about their future and don't think they will ever achieve the American Dream, and that breaks my heart,” Greene added. “I ran for Congress in 2020 and fought every single day believing that 'Make America Great Again' meant 'America First.'

Greene went on to explain that she has “one of the most conservative voting records in Congress” in which she defended First and Second Amendment rights, as well as the rights of unborn children, but criticized the Republican Party for its dwindling majority and government shutdown that lasted 43 days.

Greene's statement continues in part:

During the longest shutdown in our nation's history, I was angry at my Speaker and my own party for refusing to actively and diligently work to pass a plan to save American health care and protect Americans from outrageous, overpriced, and unaffordable health insurance policies. The House of Representatives should have met every day to fix this disaster, but instead America was once again forced into a disgusting political drama on both sides…

My bills, which mirror many of President Trump's executive orders – such as calling for a new census that counts Americans only to draw out new counties, making English the official language of the US, making it a crime for minors to be medically transgender, and other bills such as eliminating the capital gains tax on the sale of your primary home and eliminating H1B visas – are just sitting there collecting dust. This is exactly the case with bills from most members of Congress: the Speaker never brings them up for a vote.

Many ordinary Americans are no longer easily persuaded by paid spokesmen and consultants for political propaganda on television, as well as paid shills on social media, who obediently serve with cult-like conviction to force others to swallow political party talking points.

The Georgia congresswoman added that she was “fortunate to represent Georgia's 14th District for five years.”

“I fought harder than almost any other elected Republican to elect Donald Trump and the Republicans to power, traveling across the country for many years,” Greene added, noting that she has “never changed or abandoned” her campaign promises over the past few years.

Greene's announcement that she was resigning comes amid controversy between her and President Donald Trump. Trump released a statement on Truth Social saying he conclusion his “support and approval” of Greene, calling her “stupid”. Trump also accused her of constantly complaining despite his administration having “closed borders, low taxes, no men in women's sports or no transgender people for everyone,” among other accomplishments.

Trump's announcement to end his support for Greene comes as she has split from Trump on his stance on Israel and called for the release of documents related to deceased convicted billionaire sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.

In her statement, Greene added that her “only goal and desire has ever been to hold the Republican Party accountable for the promises it makes to the American people and put America first,” while adding that she has also fought against Democratic policies like the Green New Deal and “unsecure border policies.”

“This has resulted in years of continuous, never-ending personal attacks, death threats, lawsuits, ridiculous smears and lies about me that most people could not stand for even a day,” Greene continued, adding that she did not want her district to have to “endure a hurtful and hateful primary” against her from Trump.
