Welcome to Derry this is my last one HBO Max obsession. I've always been a big fan of Stephen King and his huge book. THIS filled with lore, so I was glad when a TV adaptation appeared on one of the channels. best streaming services.
Horror fans love Pennywise, the main antagonist, but the beauty of Stephen King's world is that there is horror in human nature. Welcome to Derry Four episodes in and I'm already captivated by the everyday characters who live there.
Still, Welcome to Derry audiences spent a lot of time with characters like Charlotte and her family instead of focusing solely on Pennywise and his urban torment. Even after just a few episodes, I feel like I have a deeper understanding of the people of Derry that goes beyond what the book was able to show.
Speaking about her characterization, Page said she drew on her own experiences to bring real humanity to the series.
She said: “I'm a woman, and I feel like being a woman is almost always being on the edge. I feel like we have a sense of a veil that can be lifted. I was hysterical or I felt like I knew something and my outside world was kind of telling me not to trust myself.
We've watched Charlotte deal with many aspects of Derry, which has me and many fans worried about what might happen to her. It was a challenging role for Paige, and she noted that she made sure Charlotte acted differently depending on who she was with.
“There was a lot of boiling inside me. The way I walked, her articulation, the way I talked to people of color versus the way I talked to white people, like, I took all of this, everything I know, the Taylor of the world and how I survived, and applied it to a woman in 1962 who died.”
Welcome to Derry continues to air weekly on Sundays at 9:00 pm ET, and I can't wait to see what terrible things happen. But beyond that, I've definitely come to care about the characters and worry about what Pennywise might put them through.
