He has become an essential stop for visitors to the mountain town – the photo was taken as he stood in front of the famous Banff sign.
The two-metre tall sign was erected on Mount Norquay Road, near the entrance to the town, in 2017.
The Banff sign has been moved due to concerns that too many people are stopping on Mt Norquay Road to take photos of the sign, raising concerns about pedestrian and road safety.

But with so many people stopping to take photos, it became a road hazard, prompting the city to look for a new location for the sign that was safer for both pedestrians and motorists.
The sign was unveiled Thursday at its new location near the Banff train station on Mountain Goat Lane.

“We really wanted to move it to a more pedestrian-friendly area,” Banff Mayor Corrie DiManno said.
“The station now has a new home where people can safely take photos, linger and enjoy the views.”

The sign's relocation is also part of a broader plan to redevelop the area around the train station into a public park and transit hub, expected to be completed in spring 2026.
