The National Education Association (NEA) is training teachers to promote gender and racial ideology in the classroom and to combat Republicans and parent groups who are “harming us all” by trying to stop this agenda, according to leaked materials from an upcoming training event.
Handout for NEA training on “Advancing LGBTQ+ Justice and Transgender Rights” Blames Entitlement for Using “Arsenal of Racist Dog Whistle” and “Transphobic Stereotypes” to “Fear Fear” and Cause Harm, Parent Education Advocacy Group (ED) discovered. The materials teach teachers how to instill progressive dogmas in children, including gender ideology and pronoun use, among other woke principles.

The workshop is scheduled for December 2-6 and aims to dismantle “systems of privilege and oppression against LGBTQ+ faculty and students” and “deepen skills and strategies for confronting implicit bias, microaggressions and stereotypes.”
“The right has taken advantage of ignorance about trans people and our lack of a positive, race-based message to promote anti-trans attacks, further divide and challenge the left, and sabotage progressive forces on a wide range of issues,” the NEA said in its materials. “Over the past decade, Republicans in state legislatures have increasingly turned to anti-transgender rhetoric and legislation as a powerful addition to their arsenal of racist dog whistles used to stoke fear and consolidate power.”
The NEA went on to say that Republicans have fueled a “moral panic about transgender youth” and mobilized the GOP base with a “potent mixture of racist and transphobic stereotypes.” (EXCLUSIVE: School district uses new dog whistle to maintain race-based hiring)
The union also said teachers have the “right” to “provide an inclusive curriculum.”

The documents include guidelines for language teachers to use to “activate broader attitudes towards our genders and trans people”, as well as a sample gender “transition announcement email”. The NEA encourages members to use the word “gender” instead of “gender” to normalize the idea of endless gender possibilities, and says members should get into the habit of introducing their pronouns to groups and encourage others to do the same, saying it “shifts people toward our worldview.”
The NEA also encourages members to “name the villains who violate our values.”
“[C]Some politicians are promoting laws that limit our freedoms because of the color of our skin, what we carry in our wallets, or because we are transgender,” the NEA complains. “They exploit the divisions and fears among us to gain and maintain power, denying us the basic rights, resources and respect that all people deserve.”
The union also encourages people to denigrate opponents of men in women's sports by reframing their criticism as discrimination against women rather than advocacy for women.
“Our best way to achieve this was with a message that positioned support for transgender female athletes as part of the broader fight for equality in women's and women's sports,” the NEA said. “By connecting attacks on trans women athletes to a long legacy of discrimination against all women athletes, this message simultaneously shifted our audience from individual to collective thinking and disrupted transphobic assumptions about trans girls and women as men.”
“[I]“Instead of fighting for equality in sports, some politicians are distracting us from the real issue by blaming transgender women instead of helping make sports a better place for all women,” the suggested talking point reads.
