MobileSyrup turned to Bell to confirm legitimacy posts. A Bell spokesman confirmed that about 650 management positions were affected, as well as about 40 positions at Bell Media. A spokesman confirmed that no union positions were affected.

Here's Bell's statement:

“Bell: At the recent BCE Investor Day, we outlined a three-year strategic plan focused on delivering sustainable growth across all key business units.

“To implement this plan, we regularly evaluate and make changes to our team structure. As a result, we have made the difficult but necessary decision to reduce the number of non-union management positions across the company to better align our team structure with our growth plan. The reduction represents less than 2% of Bell's total workforce, affecting approximately 650 management positions. We know this is difficult for those impacted, and we stand with every individual affected.

Bell continues to invest in strategic priorities that improve the customer experience and grow the business.

“Bell Media: As part of Bell Media's ongoing transformation into a digital media and content leader, we can confirm that approximately 40 positions have been impacted, representing less than 1% of the Bell Media team, primarily in corporate departments. We thank all departing employees for their dedication and contributions.”

Bell has been under scrutiny since it laid off many employees in 2024. Bell cuts 4,800 jobs according to the restructuring plan. Earlier this year, Bell proposed voluntary separation from 1,200 trade unions workers.

However, managerial layoffs are not uncommon at Bell. In fact, Bell employees have been known to avoid management activities in order to maintain union membership and avoid being fired. Unfortunately, it's Bella's pre-holiday day layoffs also occurred last year.
