Ravens’ Derrick Henry can pass Jim Brown, three other HOFers on rushing list

Derrick Henry has a chance to do something incredible during CrowsWeek 12 match with New York Jets.

Henry, who currently ranks 15th in career scoring, has a chance to pass four Hall of Famers on the all-time list during Sunday's game. Among these Hall of Famers is Jim Brown, considered by many to be the greatest running back in league history. Henry also has a chance to surpass Marcus Allen, Edgerrin James and Marshall Faulk on the list of top gold jacket winners.

Earlier this season, Henry recently became just the club's 17th 12,000-yard rusher, which is especially notable since every eligible member of that club is in the Pro Football Hall of Fame. He also recently passed Hall of Famer Walter Payton for fifth career touchdown.

Barring injury, it's almost a given that Henry will pass Allen and James on Sunday, as he currently trails them by just 13 and 16 yards, respectively. He'll need at least 50 yards against the Jets to pass Faulk and 83 yards to pass Brown for 11th place on the career rushing list.

Now 31, Henry is on the verge of overtaking some power forwards on the career list.

Allen and Faulk are two of only three players in NFL history with at least 12,000 career receiving yards and 5,000 receiving yards. Allen, in addition to his versatility, is also one of the most prolific rushers in league history, finishing his career as the NFL leader with 123 touchdowns. Being a member Raidershe scored two points against Washington in Super Bowl XVIII is on his way to the game's MVP award.

Arguably the most versatile player in league history, Faulk became the second player in history to pass for more than 1,000 yards in both offense and receiving in 1999, the same season he helped lead the team. Rams to the franchise's first Super Bowl victory. He would win the league MVP award the following year.

Although James was never on a Super Bowl winning team, he did receive a ring from his ex. Colts owner Jim Irsay after the team's victory over Bears in Super Bowl XLI. The gesture came to symbolize James' outsized influence on the Colts, despite his departure the previous offseason. James, who won two titles in his first two seasons in the NFL, has really helped lead the team. Cardinals to his first Super Bowl berth in 2008.

Brown, who in 1964 headed Browns to his final NFL title, he was the league leader at the time of his retirement despite playing only nine seasons. In those nine seasons, he won a whopping eight titles, as well as being an eight-time All-Pro and three-time league MVP.

While he rubs shoulders with some of the greatest running backs in history, Henry is positioning himself as the best running back of his generation. A five-time Pro Bowl player, Henry is just one of nine players to rush for more than 2,000 yards in a season. Last year, in his first year with the Ravens, Henry led the NFL in rushing touchdowns for the third time while setting the single-season record for most rushing yards by a player over 30 years old.
