Oscar-winning artist, director and animator Alberto Milgo has disputed claims that Marathon's new eight-minute cinematic teaser uses artificial intelligence.
While teaser debuting a few months ago, Milgo took to Instagram earlier this week to dispute allegations that the short film was created using generative artificial intelligence.
“I can't believe we've gotten to the point where I need to make this clear, but here it is: it's not AI. HELLO,” he said. wrote (Thank you, Game postby using eurogamer).
“Everything you see in this film: paintings, animation, 2D and 3D work, compositing and rendering, was done by a huge team – 155 incredible people and hellish hours, days, months… Yes, our Achilles heel: time.”
Milgo included several photos, writing: “I really like this little movie.”
Commenting specifically on AI, the director said he had “no idea” about the new technology, but added: “But one thing is for sure: AI will never take away my (your) desire or joy to create and paint. This part will never be replaced.
The message closed with the words “This text has been kindly edited using ChatGPT XXX” in parentheses.
When commenters asked the artist about Bungie's accusations of plagiarism, Milgo initially responded bluntly, suggesting that the studio had “accidentally” used assets, but later deleted those responses.
Yesterday (November 18th) we reported that Bungie has settled a copyright lawsuit with a writer who claimed the story borrowed elements of the original Destiny 2 storyline from his work..
