One of the counter-protesters decided that Lang needed to be taught a lesson and, pretending to march next to him, suddenly turned around and punched smiling Lang in the face. Lang tried to brush it off, telling a crowd of cameras, “The women of the Capitol Police hit me harder,” as the puncher ran away across a busy street.

Lang, who is running as a Republican to fill Marco Rubio's vacated Florida Senate seat, was accused of assaulting law enforcement officers with a deadly weapon and using physical violence in a closed area of the Capitol more than four years ago. He has also tried to form his own paramilitary militia in 2021 and even expressed concern about America's growing non-white population in his speech on Tuesday.
Dearborn has been targeted by anti-Muslim and anti-Arab protesters before. Last protests comes after Hudson said Dearborn was subject to Sharia law but retracted his statements after visiting the city and meeting with Muslims last week. The stated purpose of his march was to promote unity, but it appears to have attracted people like Lang, a fanatic with a history of violence. Unfortunately for Lang, his actions resulted in a brutal blow to the face.
