Director Rian Johnson has been raising questions about whether he and star Daniel Craig could continue their Benoit Blanc franchise after the upcoming film. Wake up, dead manthe third film in a series that includes 2019's Knives Out and 2022's The Glass Onion. Now speaking to TPPJohnson confirms that he and Craig are already working on Blanc's next adventure, although it's too early to tell if the new film is officially on the slate.
“Creatively, I feel energized after making this. Daniel and I are already starting to formulate… what could the next one be if we do another one? I don't know why I would stop doing it if we could keep doing it.”
In Wake Dead, Craig's erudite detective Benoit Blanc becomes involved in a particularly mysterious crime that takes place in a Catholic church in upstate New York. In addition to Craig, the film's ensemble cast includes Josh O'Connor, Glenn Close, Josh Brolin, Mila Kunis, Jeremy Renner, Kerry Washington, Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny and Daryl McCormack.
O'Conner and Brolin portray priests caught on opposite sides of a moral dilemma, with O'Conner's fresh-faced cleric butting heads with Brolin's more jaded and older Monsignor.
“I grew up Catholic, so it's not too far from my own experience,” says O'Connor, who plays idealistic young Father Jude Dupletisi in the film, explaining that he consulted a real priest in preparation for the role. “He has a brilliant mind and excellent faith, and he is kind, forgiving and caring, so he has helped me a lot.”
“I don't like watching this guy—it doesn't make me happy,” Brolin says of his character, Monsignor Jefferson Weeks. “I saw [the film] for the first time, and… I felt very uneasy. But I think it suits the role. So well written.”
The film will be released in select theaters on November 26th before arriving on Netflix on December 12th. In the meantime, fill out your watch list with our film guide. best netflix moviesor check out our guide to everything new on Netflix November 2025.
