Three Shah Rukh Khan titles will be shown in an inflatable cinema format for the first time as part of the 56th International Film Festival of India (MFFI) line of programmers.
National Film Development Corporation and Goa Entertainment Society are once again collaborating with mobile digital cinema company PictureTime Digiplex for the Inflatable Cinema Festival taking place from November 20-28 in Goa. This year's program will feature 'Chak De! India”, “Darr” and “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge”, which will debut in the inflatable theatre.
The list is presented in four categories: Inspirational Films, Indian Classics, Nostalgia and Children's Films. Contemporary titles include Vidhu Vinod Chopra's 12th Failure, the Malayalam blockbuster Manjummel Boys, Rajkummar Rao's Srikanth, Rani Mukerji's Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway and Sooraj Barjatya's Uunchai.
Classic selections include Satyajit Ray's “Shatranj Ke Khilari”, “Salaam Bombay!” Mira Nair, Anup Singh's Qissa, Vijay Anand's Teesri Manzil, Yash Chopra's Chandni and Kala Patthar and others.
Daily children's programs will include Kaphal: Wild Berries, Gattu, Banarasi Jasoos, The Prince and the Stone Crown and Naal 2.
PictureTime will set up its inflatable theater at Kala Academy, one of the main venues for IFFI, with additional open-air screenings at multiple venues across North and South Goa to enable locals to access the festival programmes.
“From cult classics by Shah Rukh Khan to acclaimed contemporary films like 12th Fail and Manjummel Boys, this year's programs reflect the diversity and cultural richness of Indian cinema,” said Sushil Chaudhary, Founder and CEO, PictureTime Digiplex. “We are particularly excited about screenings aimed at children and young students, because nurturing early audiences is essential to the future recognition of films.”
The Kala Academy Inflatable Theater is expected to welcome more than 1,000 visitors daily, including international delegates, film professionals, student groups and film enthusiasts. Open-air screenings in Goa are expected to attract an additional 300-400 spectators per location daily.
PictureTime’s collaboration with IFFI began in 2017, when the company organized Biscope Village at the festival.
