Jack Hughes is the Devils' most important player.
And when he's not in the lineup, the Devils are much less dominant. And he's missed a few games over the past few years.
He will miss several months of action again this season. This time his injury is not related to an injury on the ice, but to an accident in the kitchen. The Devils star will miss two months with a hand injury after cutting himself during a team dinner.
Oh…
But as Elliott Friedman reported in his 32 thoughts podcast, the injury is less serious than it seemed at first glance. New Jersey believed he would miss the rest of the season.
Initial thinking when the news broke was that Jack Hughes would miss the Olympics and possibly the rest of the season, according to Elliott Friedman.
God, it could have been a lot worse for New Jersey.

The fact that he will miss eight weeks and should be back before the Olympics is good news.
He might even make it to the Milan Olympics for the United States. I don't know if the country will dare to include him in their squad if he hasn't played a single game before the tournament, but we'll see.

One thing is for sure: if he were healthy, he would be in the lineup.
In 17 games this season, 86 has 10 goals and 10 assists.
New Jersey currently ranks first in the metropolitan section. Knowing their best player is having a great season is great news for the playoff race.

After a while
– Two big games since his return.
Quinn Hughes (0-3-3) took all three factors into account. @Canucks goals tonight and has at least three points in each of his last three games. #NHLStatistics

– Great story.
When #SeaKraken met comedian Adam Sandler, it was more than just the end of a Halloween party. Their quest to dress like Sandler or his movie characters was an important team-building exercise for a team preparing for the franchise's best 9-4-5 start..https://t.co/kiHYPpZFLw
