OJ Simpson’s estate accepts $58m claim from father of Ron Goldman | Sport

OJ Simpson's estate has accepted a $58 million lawsuit from father Ron Goldman, decades after a jury said the NFL star and actor was liable for fatal stabbing of a man.

However, this amount far exceeds the assets of the Simpson estate, and Goldman's father, Fred, is unlikely to receive any of the full amount.

“It won't be $58 million plus interest, but it will be a voluntary payment. That's the whole point,” estate executor Malcolm LaVergne said Monday.

LaVergne said he still hopes to increase total assets from $500,000 to $1 million.

Simpson died of cancer in 2024 at the age of 76.. He was found not guilty of the 1994 stabbing murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in Los Angeles. But Simpson was put on trial again and found guilty of causing the death in a separate civil case. He was ordered to pay the families $33.5 million, an amount that grew with interest.

LaVergne accepted the claim for $58 million, according to a court document filed Friday in Clark County, Nevada. The requested amount was $117 million.

Fred Goldman's lawyer Michelle Rafferty said the heirs accepted the claim as valid, but “it is not a payment.”

“We will continue to monitor the probate proceedings closely,” she said in an email.

Simpson lived in Las Vegas after serving nine years in prison for armed robberykidnapping and assault, charges stemming from a 2007 confrontation with two sports memorabilia dealers in a hotel room. He generally declined to discuss his finances, other than to say he lived off his NFL and private pensions.
