A group of dedicated programmers have managed to partially revive online gameplay for the PC version. Concordteam shooter that Sony famously shut down just two weeks after launch last summer. However, the team behind this fan server is now closing off new access after Sony began filing DMCA takedown requests for sample gameplay videos.
Game post was one of the first to publish the “Concord Delta” project, which reverse-engineered the game's now-defunct server API to run a functional weekend multiplayer match. “The project is still [a work in progress]it’s playable, but has bugs,” developer Red wrote on the game’s Discord channel, according to The Game Post. “Once our servers are fully set up, we will begin conducting private playtesting.”
Access to Concord Delta's servers reportedly requires a legal copy of the game on PC, which is quite difficult to obtain these days. Concord only sold about 25,000 copies on PC and PS5 before it was canceled last year. And this number does not include players who accepted a full refund for a $40 purchase. after the official servers are closed.
Better safe than sorry
Red accompanied their Discord announcement of the first “playable” game. Concord in a few months would coincide with two YouTube videos showing sample gameplay (“Don't mind my terrible goal, I'm spending so much time reverse engineering that I don't have time to play the game anymore,” he warned viewers). However, these videos were soon removed “due to a copyright infringement claim from MarkScan Enforcement”, a company that has experience working with Sony by DMCA requests.
