More than 70 percent of people affected by the Palisades fire in California in January are still living in temporary housing, according to a report.
The Department of Angels survey surveyed “2,300 fire-affected Los Angeles County residents, in accordance with That Los Angeles Times. The survey found that 75 percent of “Pacific Palisades residents surveyed and 67% of Altadena residents surveyed live in transitional housing.”

The report found that while residents experiencing total homelessness have difficulty finding stable housing, residents affected by structural damage, smoke or ash are forced to move more frequently.
22% of residents who lost their homes in Altadena, Pacific Palisades, Pasadena and Malibu said they planned to move again within the next six to 12 months, and 9% planned to move within the next few months. Of those residents who suffered structural damage, smoke or ash, 19% expected to have to move within the next few months, and 18% thought they would have to move within a year.
Fox News reported one person explained that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) “has Community Development Grant dollars available for disaster relief.”
The person explained to Fox News that before the government shutdown, they were “going to meet with HUD” to discuss it, adding that it could be used to reinvest in infrastructure.
Warner Todd Huston of Breitbart News reported that during Thursday's hearing, Sens. Ron Johnson (R-FL) and Rick Scott (R-FL) heard from “victims of devastating and deadly fires.” Speakers at the hearing included Hills Reality TV star Spencer Pratt:
One of those who spoke at the meeting was Hills reality TV star Spencer Pratt, who has become a leading advocate for fire victims.
“By the grace of God, my family survived,” he said during his testimony.
“My family has not given up hope, but we have lost our home and everything we have in the Palisades fire,” Pratt said during the hearing, wearing a cap that read, “Newsom will never be president.”
California Governor Gavin Newsom (Democrat) was reported as an attempt to distract attention from the Pacific Palisades fire, which “destroyed 7,000 structures and killed 12 people in the Pacific Palisades and Malibu areas alone.”
Johnson previously proposed that the Senate “may subpoena Newsom to explain the failures of state and local authorities during the Palisades fire.”
