ROSHARON, Texas (AP) — Former NBA guard Patrick Beverly was arrested and charged with assault in an incident Texas police called a “family violence incident.”

Beverly, 37, was arrested early Friday morning at a home in Rosharon, the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office said. Bail was set at $40,000.

Taking to social media, Beverly urged people to “don't believe everything you see on the internet.”

He also released an unsigned statement saying he unexpectedly found his teenage sister alone with an 18-year-old man.

“He was understandably concerned, as any brother would be, concerned about his sister. However, we do not believe what happened next is as described and we look forward to addressing it in court,” the statement said.

Beverly last played in the NBA with the Milwaukee Bucks in 2024. He previously played for the Houston Rockets, Los Angeles Clippers and several other teams during his 12-year career.
