“President Trump just attacked me and lied about me,” Greene wrote in a social media post, adding, “I supported President Trump by spending too much of my precious time and too much of my own money.”

President Donald Trump said Friday that he no longer supports Marjorie Taylor Greene, the Georgia congresswoman and former staunch ally, and that he would support a conservative fight against her in the next Republican primary if it were the right candidate.

Trump, in a Friday night Truth Social post, said he “can't answer Sleepwalker's rants every day,” saying Greene was upset that the two had been communicating less frequently lately. The post also criticized her decision to appear on talk show “The View” earlier this month.

Greene's rep pointed to a statement on social media platform X in which Greene said Trump attacked her because Greene supported the release of additional files held by the Justice Department on convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein.
“President Trump just attacked me and lied about me,” Greene wrote in a social media post, adding, “I supported President Trump by spending too much of my precious time and too much of my own money.”

“But I don’t worship or serve Donald Trump,” she added. “I worship God, Jesus is my savior, and I serve my GA14 district and the American people.”
Trump further criticized Greene online on Saturday, calling her a “Republican in name only.” “Just another fake politician, no different from Rand Paul Jr. (Thomas Massie) who got caught being a full-fledged Republican in Name Only (RINO)!” Trump posted a message on social media.
Greene was one of four Republicans who joined Democrats in signing a dismissal petition to force the House to vote to release more Epstein files. House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-Louisiana) said he plans to hold a vote next week. Other Republicans included Lauren Boebert (Colorado), Nancy Mace (South Carolina) and Thomas Massie (Kentucky).

On Monday, Trump said Greene had “lost her way” when responding to a reporter's question about Greene's social media post earlier in the day accusing the president of focusing on foreign affairs over domestic issues following Trump's meeting with the Syrian leader in Washington.
Greene has criticized her party on several issues in recent weeks, including the government shutdown that ended after 43 days on Wednesday. She told The View that she was “embarrassed” that Congress was not in session and that she originally ran for office “by criticizing Democrats and Republicans alike.”

“We're not working right now, and I directed that criticism directly at the Speaker of the House,” she said, referring to Johnson, in contrast to statements from the White House and Republicans during the shutdown that placed blame squarely on Democrats.
Last month, in an interview with The Post, she called out “weak Republican men” (who she said have sidelined their female colleagues) and railed against the Trump administration's decision to help save Argentina's economy. She has also been among the most vocal Republican critics of U.S. support for Israel and Ukraine.
The reports mark a major spat between two Republicans who were once closely aligned. Greene made a name for herself in politics as an ardent Trump supporter, committed to his brand of “Make America Great Again” conservatism before it became the norm in the Republican Party. In 2022, there was also talk of Trump choosing Greene as his running mate for the 2024 presidential election.

During her campaign, Greene was best known for her support of fringe elements associated with the right, including open support for the extremist ideology known as QAnon, as well as an infamous 2018 Facebook post in which she claimed that wildfires in California may have been caused by a laser beam from outer space to promote a high-speed rail project.
She posted a photo of herself holding a rifle and captioned it, “Squad's Worst Nightmare,” a reference to a group of left-leaning Democratic lawmakers. In 2020, Trump called her a “future Republican star” who is “strong in everything and never gives up – a true WINNER!”
Also on Friday, Trump posted on Truth Social criticizing Massie, who he said “always votes against the Republican Party,” with disparaging comments about his recent wedding.
