Draymond Green was ready to take on the defensive challenge Victor Vembanyama down, but it didn't work.

Green, listed as 6ft 6in, defended the 7ft 4in Wembanyama in a controversial match. Knowing that he has a clear advantage, Green did everything he could to get the best possible positioning.

The usually physical Green backed up Wembanyama, but when the whistle blew the third-year star knew exactly what to do.

Vembanyama turned and the entry pass was a perfectly set up lane for the jam. He dunked on Green and made sure Green knew what happened.

Almost everyone in San Antonio exploded, and Green and Wembanyama were separated before anything else could happen.

The officials waved the basket away because Green fouled the Spurs center before the attack. Green picked up his fifth foul seconds later on his next entry, storming off the court and yelling at the officials on the whistle.

“This is not an attempt to prove anything to anyone. It’s just that at some point someone talks to you a certain way, you have to respond in a certain way,” Vembanyama said after the game, according to the report San Antonio Express-News.

However, Green sensed some hypocrisy.

“It’s nice to see him show emotion. I like it when guys show emotion,” Green said via Yahoo Sports. “I just wish that if I can scream in someone's face and then a teammate can tackle me and nothing happens – because if I scream in someone's face and tackle someone, I'm suspended indefinitely.”
